Staff.

43. The Registrar General resumed duty on his return from vacation leave on 17th November. During his absence Mr. W. K. Thomson, Deputy Registrar General, was in charge of the department with Mr. M. Morley-John seconded from the Legal Department acting as Deputy Registrar General.

44. Mr. S. Y. Doe was selected for the new post of Assistant Registrar in the Official Receiver's Office necessitated by the heavy pressure of bankruptcy and companies liquidation work, and his appointment took effect from 8th May, 1952.

45. Mr. G. L. Herdman, Deputy Registrar of Marriages, returned to duty on 1st June, 1952 on the expiration of his leave, and Mr. A. L. Cole resumed duty as Assistant Registrar in charge of the Companies Registry on 13th October, 1952. Mr. R. E. Low, Assistant Registrar in the Land Office, resigned his appointment as at 24th July 1952, and Mr. S. A. Fowler, previously seconded from the Public Works Department to assist with Land Office work, was selected for the vacancy and appointed Assistant Registrar with effect from the date of Mr. Low's resignation.

46. The Registrar General gratefully acknowledges his appreciation of the manner in which the personnel of all sections of the department have carried out their duties under conditions of heavy pressure of work and shortage of staff.
