6.69 In addition to obtaining supplies of marine sand from Mirs Bay, an opportunity was taken to dredge sand which would otherwise have been lost due to reclamation works from Tolo Harbour at Tai Po. The lower cost of dredging sand at Tai Po enabled a general reduction, from $44 to $37 per cubic metre, to be made in the price of marine sand.

6.70 In order to provide an alternative source to marine sand the sale of manufactured sand began in October at a price of $35 per cubic metre.
