The Quarries Section is responsible for the operation of the two Government quarries, the administration of contract quarries, control of site crushing operations and advice on quarrying and the removal of dangerous boulders. The section manages the Sand Monopoly which arranges the sale of marine and manufactured sand and it also operates the P.W.D. materials testing laboratories. For all these functions the Quarries Section is directly responsible to the Principal Government Civil Engineer. Details of production, sales, laboratory tests and revenue are given in Appendix S.
