5.34 The Professional Training Board within this Office comprises a Chairman and two members who are Chartered Surveyors and one Assistant Building Surveyor. The function of the Board is mainly to act as a link between the Student and Assistant Building Surveyors and the R.I.C.S. Headquarters in London and to arrange a suitable training programme for the purposes of the Test of Professional Competence.

5.35 An agreed Test of Professional Competence programme has been established with the R.I.C.S. and the Board ensures that each Student or Assistant Building Surveyor gains the required training not only by suitable postings within the Office but by periods of secondment to the Architectural Office, Crown Lands & Survey Office and Housing Authority.

5.36 A total of 23 Student or Assistant Building Surveyors were in various stages of attaining professional associateship of the R.I.C.S.

5.37 The examination results for March 1976 showed that all six Student Building Surveyors who sat Part II of the R.I.C.S. examinations were successful but only two passed the Final.

5.38 There was an intake of five students from the Hong Kong Polytechnic in the autumn of 1976. All were in possession of a Higher Diploma which gives exemption from the Part I of the R.I.C.S. Examinations.
