Three Chief Planning Officers, one Senior Planning Officer, eleven Planning Officers or Assistant Planning Officers and six Surveying Assistants (Planning) were seconded to the New Territories Development Department.
10.12 During the year, two Chief Planning Officers were appointed on contract and eight Assistant Planning Officers were recruited on local terms to fill existing vacancies. Four Assistant Planning Officers who became professionally qualified were promoted to Planning Officers.
Training
10.13 A number of Assistant Planning Officers and Surveying Assistants (Planning) enrolled as student members of the Royal Town Planning Institute and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and sat for professional examinations during the year.
10.14 Three Assistant Planning Officers were undertaking overseas post-graduate town planning courses and R.I.C.S. courses at universities and polytechnics in the United Kingdom under the scheme for Government Training Scholarships.
Welfare
10.15 The Town Planning Office Sports and Social Club was very active during the year and its various activities were well attended. These included a launch picnic, an office outing to Wu Kai Sha, a trip to Macau, various inter-division sports and games competitions, a Christmas party and an Annual Dinner.
