The market was not particularly active at the beginning of the year, but improvement was marked as the year progressed. The system of selling Crown land regularly by Auction and Tender in accordance with a planned programme continued, and of the 30 lots offered for sale only one was withdrawn for want of a purchaser. Generally, auction sales were well attended, and bidding, particularly towards the end of the year, was quite keen. In the latter quarter of 1975 prices paid at auction were markedly higher than those obtained in the first part of the year.
