5.12. The construction of the causeway across Castle Peak Bay at San Hui and the associated 1,700-foot-long main drainage channel were substantially completed. Most of the piles for the reinforced concrete bridge spanning the channel were also driven.
MISCELLANEOUS
5.13. A manual of 'Technical Instruction' and a set of 'Regulations' for Surveying Assistants (Engineering) were completed in draft and circulated to other sub-departments for comments.

6.01. To cope with the expanding needs of the Colony 59 miles of new stormwater drains and sewers were added to the drainage systems.
6.02. The year saw a start on an examination of the problem of overloading of the sewerage system in the heavily built up areas.
