With the completion of negotiations for the handing over of a large part of the Hong Kong Dockyard, a small portion, being the initial stage of the proposed new waterfront road and temporarily used for car parking, was taken over on behalf of the Hong Kong Government on 22nd February, 1960. Preparations for taking over additional areas are well advanced.

146. Preparations for the sale of a part of Murray Parade Ground on the 30th May, 1960, have been completed. This sale has been given worldwide publicity. The remainder of the site is reserved for a multi-storey car park.
