A contract for the site formation has been signed and work started, while working drawings for the superstructure are nearing completion.

Castle Peak Mental Hospital
29. Building construction proceeded steadily on this large scheme, and the contract is now a little more than half complete. The project includes some 36 separate buildings which fall roughly into three groups, namely, the hospital buildings with accommodation for 1,000 patients, the senior medical staff quarters and the junior staff quarters.
30. The hospital buildings are of two-storey construction, linked by covered ways and are designed to give a domestic character to the group, which suits the rural surroundings. They comprise an Administration Block; a Services Block with central kitchen, laundry, laboratories and occupational therapy rooms; a Concert Hall for about 500; one male and one female admission block; two male and two female Chronic Ward blocks; one male and one female Refractory Ward block; and a Mortuary. The staff quarters consist of a variety of buildings, including houses and flats. All the buildings are to be mosquito proofed.
Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Quarters
31. The Sisters' and Nurses' Quarters will provide accommodation for 18 senior sisters, 96 sisters and 450 nurses, with training facilities for 150 nurses. The construction of these quarters progressed steadily.
32. The site of the hospital building has been piled, and construction of the basement has started as a separate contract. The bulk of the working drawings for the superstructure of this large building are nearing completion and the quantity surveyors have made a limited start on the preparation of bills of quantities for parts of the building.
33. The hospital is designed as a single 13-storey block with projecting wings and will provide about 1,320 beds. The Surgical Unit on the east side will contain 31 wards with 18 operating theatre suites,
