293. Owing to rapid building development, Tsat Tze Mui Quarry has come to be in close proximity to residential areas, and because of this, and also because the working face was unduly cramped for the output demanded, it was decided that the Quarry should be abandoned and a new site found. A number of sites were examined and after considerable investigation a site was selected at the bend in Tai Hang Valley below Mount Butler. Surveys were put in hand and estimates prepared which were approved for inclusion in the 1954/55 Works Programme.
Traffic Control and Aids
294. Contract and direct labour painters were employed painting and maintaining white lines along road centre lines, car-park areas, traffic lanes and at pedestrian crossings. The length of line painted was considerably greater than in previous years and nearly 5,000 gallons of road marking paint were used. Experimental sections were painted with various types of leaded
