207. The dust nuisance at Tsat Tze Mui Quarry, sited in the popular North Point residential district, was mentioned in last year's report and all efforts to eliminate this nuisance failed. In the public interest it was therefore decided that a new quarry site was necessary and investigations into alternative sites were made, in consequence of which a site at the head of the Tai Hang Valley, Mt. Butler, approximately 4 miles from the city centre was provisionally selected. Work then started on the detailed surveys, lay-out plans and estimates for the proposed new quarry with an adequate production capacity based on an 8 hour working day.
