Of the total of 92,417.34 cube yards of silt removed during the year, 52,344.42 cube yards were dredged from the foreshores and in maintaining the depth of water within the Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter, alongside Public Piers and Refuse Boat Piers; 3,313.76 cube yards and 32,642.62 cube yards were dredged in connection with the excavation of trenches for slipway at Kai Tak Aerodrome, and for rubble mound foundation at Kun Tong, respectively, the cost of the latter works being charged against 31% Dollar Loan Account: Aerodrome, and Head 34, P.W.E. Sub-head 90, respectively; while the remainder of 4,116.54 cube yards were dredged on behalf of the Hong Kong and Whampoa Dock Co., Ltd.
