with by the Senior Force Welfare Officer. Welfare Committee meetings were also held in Divisions every two months; and lectures on Force welfare were given to all ranks under training at the Police Training School.

ENTERTAINMENT

202. Grants from the Police Force Welfare Fund were made to Police formations during the year for the entertainment of Rank and File and their families.

RETIREMENT PARTIES FOR THE RANK AND FILE

203. One hundred and twenty five tea parties and presentations of momentoes to retiring members of the Rank and File were held during the year, expenses being met by voluntary subscriptions of 20¢ per head.

HONG KONG POLICE SPORTS ASSOCIATION

204. This Association is open to all members of the Force including members of the civilian staff, Auxiliary Police and police pensioners. It is controlled by a General Committee, the Secretary, Treasurer and four members of which are elected annually by full members of the Association. The Chairman is nominated by the Commissioner, who is the President of the Association. He also nominates one representative from each Command to serve on the Committee. The Senior Force Welfare Officer is an ex-officio member of the Committee. Each branch of sport has a sub-committee to run its own activities. Annual inter- divisional competitions are held from which individual performances in particular sports are assessed with a view to Force representation.

205. The most popular games amongst the Rank and File are foot- ball, basketball, athletics, swimming, billiards, volleyball and table tennis. In addition boxing, judo, cricket, lawn bowls, rugby, tennis and squash have a good following. Teams participating in various Colony Leagues did well.

206. The Annual Police Athletic Sports Meeting was held on the 24th February, 1968 at the Police Ground, Boundary Street, Kowloon. This function was well attended by all ranks accompanied by their families. Prizes were presented to the winners by the Commissioner.
