In addition 250 officers qualified for the award of the Colonial Police Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, 29 for First Clasps and 12 for Second Clasps.

26. In addition to the awards recorded at paragraph 25, two members of the Force were commended by His Excellency the Governor and 34 by the Commissioner.

27. Rewards paid for meritorious service to members of the public amounted to $3,950.00.

ESTABLISHMENT

28. The Force establishment, excluding civilian posts, for the financial year 1966-67 was 10,996 as against 10,346 for the previous year, an in- crease of 650. This establishment includes 38 supernumerary posts.

29. At the end of the year the strength was 10,809 giving a deficiency of 187.

REVIEW OF CRIME

30. The number of crimes recorded rose from 20,022 in the year 1965-66 to 21,516 during the current year being an increase of 1,494 (7.5%). The term 'crime' does not include miscellaneous offences such as traffic, gambling and hawking cases etc.
