192. The statistics received from a Force survey in connexion with a proposed new teleprinter system are now under examination.
193. During the year radio control rooms handled 16,514 ‘999' messages of which 292 were false calls. The total number of messages received was 25,379. The number of teleprinter messages passed was 23,814 (an increase of 6.9% over the previous year).
Transport
194. The officer-in-charge of this section is a Senior Inspector. Two junior officers are responsible for the daily vehicle state and the super- vision of the Police Driving School respectively.
195. Various light general purpose vehicles have been tested and in the light of experience it has been decided that the landrover is the most suitable vehicle in this category for police duties.

197. During the year the Hong Kong Auxiliary Air Force took delivery of two Alouette helicopters which gave the Force valuable assistance on many occasions.
198. The Police Driving School was moved to Yuen Long Police Station and driving instruction given to 356 members of the Force.
199. Force vehicles ran 5,291,854 miles; they were involved in 247 accidents, giving an average figure of 21,424 miles per accident.
