53. In addition, revenue of $811,579 was collected by the Police in co-operation with other Government departments.

POLICE SAVINGS SCHEME

54. This scheme enables the rank and file to make regular monthly savings from their salaries. The savings, which may be any multiple of $5, are deducted at source and entrusted to a Savings Bank which allows a concessional rate of interest of 4% per annum.

55. At the end of year the scheme had 1,814 members. Since the commencement of the scheme $1,117,310 has been deposited and $93,032.80 has been earned as interest.

PROMOTIONS AND ADVANCEMENTS

56. One officer was promoted to the rank of Assistant Commis- sioner, one to Chief Superintendent, two to Senior Superintendent and 21 Senior Inspectors were appointed to Assistant Superintendent. 35 junior officers were promoted to the rank of Senior Inspectors.
