238. The Annual X-Ray Survey of the Force and Civilian Staff showed 46 cases of active tuberculosis as against 52 last year. 8,603 police personnel were X-rayed. 869 members attended the Government Chest Clinic, tuber- culosis was found quiescent in 160 cases and arrested in 181. 24 police officers were admitted to hospital for treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis.

CHILD HEALTH SERVICES

239. The Maternal and Child Health Services sessions for Police children

up to the age of five years have been very well attended by families of the

Rank and File. Skimmed and full cream milk powder were provided in needy cases. 50 sessions held at Arsenal Street dealt with 2,910 cases, 34 of which were referred to the Family Planning Association.

POLICE CO-OPERATIVES

240. The four Rank and File Consumers Co-operative Societies at Arsenal Street, Cheung Sha Wan, Tin Kwong Road and Tanner Road. Married Quarters have had a successful year. These stores sell groceries and other provisions to married families living in the quarters at prices cheaper than in outside shops. The executive committees have devoted a considerable amount of their own time to keeping the four organizations functioning on proper lines. The amount of business done was over half a million dollars at Cheung Sha Wan Co-operative, and a quarter of a million dollars at Arsenal Street. Appreciation is due to the staff of the Government Consumers Co- operative Society for the sound advice provided.

ENTERTAINMENT

241. Eighteen launch picnics were held during the past year for members of the Rank and File and their families throughout the Force. They were very well attended. Meals were provided and expenses were met from the Police Welfare Fund.

POLICE SPORTS ASSOCIATION

242. This Association continued to be the home for all Force representa- tive sports. All members of the Force including members of the Civilian Staff, Auxiliary Police and Police Pensioners are entitled to membership of the Association.
