ANTI-CORRUPTION BRANCH
110. On the 1st April, 1964, the rank of the officer commanding this branch was upgraded to Chief Superintendent. This officer continued to be responsible to the Director of Criminal Investigation for the work of this branch.
111. All reports received by the branch are examined by a "Target' Committee, consisting of the Deputy Commissioner as Chairman, the Director of Criminal Investigation and the Chief Superintendent, Anti-Corruption Branch. In addition to these senior police officers, the Colonial Secretariat is represented by a senior officer. This Committee decides investigation priorities and other matters which determine the manner in which the resources of the Branch are deployed. The Target Committee met on 22 occasions during the year. A total of 373 allegations were received of which 320 suggested corrup- tion. The remaining 53 were of a miscellaneous nature. They were allocated by the Target Committee as follows:
(i) To be investigated by A.C. Branch
(ii) Other police formations
(iii) Other Government Departments

112. 156 reports or allegations of corruption against Police officers were dealt with. After consideration by the Target Committee 79 cases were referred to the Anti-Corruption Branch for investigation. Of these 8 allegations were substantiated, 30 not substantiated and 41 were still under investigation at the end of the year. The remaining 77 cases with the exception of 18 cases in which the Target Committee directed that no further action be taken, concerned general allegations and were referred to other Police formations for enquiries. A summary of action taken against Police officers involved in corruption cases which have been heard in Court or dealt with departmentally is as follows:
