SOCIETIES
271. Under the Societies Ordinance the Commissioner of Police is the Registrar of Societies. On 31st March, 1964 there were 1,318 registered societies and 148 societies exempted from registration under the Societies Ordinance.
272. During the year 84 new societies were registered and 26 societies were granted exemption. 3 societies were refused registration, 15 changed their status by registering as companies and 13 societies closed down. Applications from 33 were under consideration on 31st March, 1964.
ARMS AND MISCELLANEOUS LICENCES
273. The Commissioner of Police in addition to being the Licensing Authority under the Road Traffic Ordinance is the Licensing Authority under the Arms and Ammunition Ordinance and certain other laws. At the end of the year the number of licences in issue under those laws
