HONOURS AND AWARDS
68. In addition to the awards recorded at paragraph 17, 2 Colonial Police Long Service and Good Conduct Medals, 16 First Clasps and 13 Second Clasps were awarded.
69. Six members of the Force were commended by His Excellency the Governor and 36 by the Commissioner.
70. Rewards paid for meritorious service by members of the public amounted to $6,710.15. Police personnel received $18,205.00 as rewards for outstanding performance of duty.
71. Up to 31st July, 1962 5,462 officers were drawing Good Conduct Allowance. This allowance ceased after that date. (See paragraphs 73 and 74 below).
CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
72. Paragraphs 22-26 describe the circumstances leading up to the convening of a Government Committee to review the conditions of service and rates of pay of the Rank and File.
73. From 1st August, 1962 an improved salary scale and a special non-pensionable police allowance of $40 a month was introduced for all other ranks. At the same time a number of allowances ceased to be payable.
