Operational Review

AIRBUS CENTRE AND AIRBUS ASSISTANTS

To enhance the quality of our Airbus services, a new Airbus Centre at the Airport Transport Terminus was brought into operation in May 1994. The Airbus Centre, located near the Airbus passenger boarding area, efficiently serves over 9,000 passengers daily by providing updated information and answering inquiries concerning the Airbus services. Passengers can also make use of the coin exchange service at the Centre in order to tender the exact fare on the Airbuses.

To further improve our service to Airbus passengers, a free porter service was also introduced at the Airbus Terminus in July 1994. This service is performed by our Airbus. Assistants who carry passengers' luggage onto the Airbuses from the passenger loading bays. The service has been well-received by passengers.

BUS CAPTAIN SERVICE IMPROVEMENT TRAINING

A Service Enhancement Seminar for Bus Captains was conducted by KMB Driving Instructors in 1994 with an aim to enhance the attitude of bus captains towards passengers.

Information Services

BUS CAPTAIN NAME PLATES

To cultivate a better relationship between bus captains and customers, KMB has placed the Bus Captain's name plate inside each bus to enable easy recognition by customers. The response from the travelling public has been very positive.

IMPROVING THE PROVISION OF BUS OPERATION INFORMATION

At present, most of our bus stops have route information plates displaying the routing, timetable, fare etc. of the routes concerned. In order to improve further the provision of bus operation information to passengers, we have been actively looking for and studying the latest technology in this field. The major items of improvement under consideration

are:

A route information plate to be erected inside the bus compartment.

Centralised information panels at major bus termini/interchanges showing the route information and a graphical representation of the districts covered by the routes

concerned.
