NEW ROUTES AND NEW BUSES

As the population in the new towns increases, KMB expands its bus network to meet the public's new needs. In

1987, 10 new routes were started.

Four are serving the intakes at Ma On

Shan and Junk Bay and three are new

express routes from Tai Po and Yuen

Long/Tuen Mun via the Tolo

Highway/Shatin Road and Tuen

Mun/Tsuen Wan Road to Kowloon.

Another attempt to provide the

public with a better service was our introduction in September of our first small air-conditioned bus service on

Route 90. These eight new 24 seat

single deck Toyota buses replaced the

old buses. The response to the

improved service has been encouraging,

with an increase in patronage of about

65% in spite of a 40% fare increase on

the route.

新路線及新巴士

本公司隨着新市鎮人口上升而擴展巴士 服務網,以應付市民大眾之新需要。 一九八七年間開設十條新路線。四條

路線接載馬鞍山及將軍澳之乘客, 而三條新特快巴士線則由大埔及元朗/ 屯門經吐露港公路/沙田道及屯門公路/ 荃灣道往九龍。

本公司嘗試為公眾人士提供更佳服務, 於九月推出首項小型空調巴士服務行走 90號路線,舊式巴士由八輛二十四座位 單層巴士代替,乘客對此項改良服務之 反應令人鼓舞。雖然該路線之收費增加 百分之四十,乘客量仍增加約百分之 六十五。
