The name and address of the addressee;

The date, hour, and exact place of posting;

The nature of the packet and the amount of postage paid;

Whether the whole packet or only the money order is missing.

If possible, the cover should be produced.

If the order has been lost or destroyed, a fee of 80c. to cover the cost of a duplicate order should be forwarded with the application.

OVERSEAS MONEY ORDERS

SCOPE OF SERVICE

Money orders may be sent to or received from the countries shown in the table at the end of this section, which gives in detail the special conditions affecting the various countries.

H.M. Forces

Money orders may, subject to the exceptions shown below, be sent under the same conditions as to civilians, to persons in H.M. Forces overseas provided that it is in order to include as part of each address the name of the actual place at which the member of the Forces is situated. The money order service is not available to those members of any of the Forces serving overseas whose official address includes the words:-BRITISH FORCES POST OFFICE, or UNITED STATES ARMY POST OFFICE (U.S.A.P.O.).

H.M. Ships

Money orders may be sent at sender's risk to persons in H.M. Ships in foreign waters, provided the address includes the name of a port of call. Money orders must not be drawn for payment to naval personnel in India or Pakistan if the payee's address is c/o a Fleet Mail Office,

The general conditions and charges are the same as for money order remittances to civilians.

Merchant Ships

Money orders may be sent at sender's risk to personnel of ships in foreign waters, but the address must include the name of a port of call.

The general conditions and charges are the same as for money order remittances to other civilians.

AMOUNT AND RESTRICTIONS

No single order can be issued for a sum exceeding the maximum indicated in the table at the end of this section of the guide.

Permission to remit money orders to countries outside the Scheduled Territories (formerly known as the sterling area) must be obtained by application to the Exchange Control Office, Hong Kong, by means of a declaration form upon which the purpose of the remittance must be fully stated.

LIABILITY OF THE POST OFFICE

After a money order has ben paid, the Post Office is not liable to meet any further claim in connexion with it.
