Prohibitions: Letters; charged butane gas lighters and refills if sent via France (uncharged lighters are admitted and should be declared as such on the customs declaration form); coffee in excess of 24 lb. per month to the same person; labels, corks, empty bottles or other containers bearing the marks of non-Turkish firms. and intended for use in packing Turkish products and goods; goods bearing indications, which suggest that they are of Turkish origin when they are not; cigarette papers, machines and tobacco of all kinds, cigars, cigarettes and snuff, unless addressed to the Administration of the Tobacco Monopoly; or to privileged members of the staffs of diplomatic missions in Ankara and Istanbul; cottons not mentioned in the official list (Codex) except cotton prepared for medical use; military weapons (except for the Government) and air-guns; worn clothing, bedding and so on, except with a certificate of disinfection.

Restrictions apply to the importation of: Alcoholic liquors; coffee; pharma- ceutical preparations; plants and parts of plants; playing cards; quinine; soap;

tea.

Invoice : A certified invoice should accompany all printed items (books, journals etc.) sent to commercial firms, and a certificate of origin must be sent with printed items other than daily newspapers.

Sealing: Parcels must be sealed with a distinctive device.

Compensation is not payable for damage to parcels containing liquids, fragile articles or perishable goods if the damage occurs in the Italian service.
