Prohibitions: Letters; bank-notes, coin, currency notes, bills, drafts and so on, and all forms of securities; butane gas lighters and refills; firearms of every kind including sporting guns. The importation of a wide range of general merchandise is prohibited. All merchandise not prohibited is subject to a quota system. Senders should ascertain before posting whether the contents are admissible. Packing: Parcels should be packed in wood, tin, canvas, linen or similar material. The Iranian Postal Administration does not accept responsibility for loss or damage occurring in its service if any other materials are used.

Delivery: Additional charges for conveyance from the Iranian frontier are collected from the addressee.

Compensation is not payable for damage to uninsured parcels containing porcelain, glassware and other exceptionally fragile articles if the damage occurs in the Indian service,

Restrictions apply to the importation of plants. Diamonds may only be imported on production of an import permit, a certificate of origin and a manufacturer's declaration approved by the official authorities of the country of origin; gold, gold coins and all foreign currency may only be imported under permit from Foreign Exchange Control Committee, Baghdad.
