Coin: packing and limit of compensation. The compensation in respect of coin, which must be packed in such a way that it cannot move about, will in no case exceed $46.00.

DEFINITION OF MONEY

Coin. The term coin means and includes: Coins used or designed for ornamental purposes and declared as such.

Paper Money. The term paper money means and includes:

Notes of Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation or of any bank issue in the Colony, and notes current in any British possession or foreign state;

Money orders and Postal orders;

Unobliterated postage or revenue stamps;

Exchequer bills, bank post bills, bills of exchange, promisory notes, cheques, credit notes which entitle the holder to money or goods, and all orders and authorities for the payment of money, whether negotiable or not; and

Bonds, coupons, and securities for money, whether negotiable

or not.

Additional information. Without prejudice to any of the preceding regulations, compensation may be refused for loss or damage on any ground on which a common carrier might in like case claim exemption from liability.

The final decision upon all questions of compensation rests with the Post Office.

GENERAL CONDITIONS

Correspondence and parcels for service personnel abroad and those on H.M. Ships are subject to the general conditions applicable to the overseas post.

PRINCIPAL SERVICES (SURFACE ROUTES)

The classes of mail which may be sent and the rates of postage which apply are as follows:-

Letters. The rate of postage is 20c for first oz. and 15c for each additional oz.

Postcards. The rate of postage is 15c each.

Printed Papers, including newspapers. The rate of postage is 15c for the first 2 ounces and 10c for each additional 2 ozs.; the limit of weight is 61 lb.
