chooses, request, by means of a Paid Service Advice to the coast station that the radiotelegram may be re- tained for a further period of six days. If no such request is received, the radiotelegram will be treated as undelivered at the end of the 7th day (not includ- ing the day of handing in).

If the coast station knows that the ship has passed beyond its range of transmission before the radiotelegram could be transmitted to it, the office of origin is notified; and the information will be com- municated to the sender. The sender may request the coast station to transmit the radiotelegram when the ship next passes.

Payment.

Credit accounts may be opened, against deposit, by regular and extensive users of the Post Office radiotelegram services. Applications should be made to the Postmaster General.

A receipt for a radiotelegram can be obtained on demand, free of charge. A certified copy of a radio- telegram can be obtained upon written request to the Postmaster General.

Service Instructions.

The sender of a radiotelegram upon giving the necessary instructions and paying the requisite fees, may make use of the special services as detailed in the following paragraphs.

Prepaid Replies.

A reply may be prepaid to any radiotelegram. When prepayment of a reply is desired, the sender should write the letters RP followed by mention in Gold francs in the case of non-British vessels, and Sterling in the case of British vessels, of the amount prepaid, for example RP9/2 or RPGF15.50 before the address, the whole expression counting as one word.

A voucher for the amount prepaid is issued to the addressee by the wireless office on board the ship of destination, and this voucher is valid for a period of three months.

If the reply-paid radiotelegram cannot be de- livered to the addressee, the value of the voucher is refunded to the sender on application being made within its period of validity.
