TELECOMMUNICATIONS

When there are more ships than one of the same name, the wireless call sign should be added to the name of the ship. No additional charge is made for the addition of the call signal. Messages can only be accepted at "Sender's Risk" in cases where the call signal is not given for vessels with duplicated names. On large passenger steamers there may be several persons bearing one or other of the more usual surnames, and in such cases it is advisable to include in the address, the Christian name or other particulars of identity.

In the address, the name of the ship as it appears in the first column in the International List of Coast and Ship Stations shall be counted in every case, and independently of its length, as one word. Similarly the name of the "Coast Station" when included in the address, is counted and charged for as one word.

If the name of the ship is not known, it may, at the sender's risk, be replaced by the particular of its voyage determined by the name of the ports of origin and destination, or by any other equivalent particulars. Example:-Stewartson Nightboat Macao to Hong

Kong Capedaguilaradio.

B. H.M. SHIPS (EXCLUDING TROOP SHIPS AND TRANSPORTS).

The address should contain :-

1.

The name of the addressee,

2.

The word WARSHIP,

3.

The name of the ship; and

4.

The name of the wireless coast station through which the message is to be forwarded.

Example:-Stewartson

-Stewartson Warship

Warship Kent Capeda- guilaradio. The word submarine may be substituted for warship where necessary, together with its iden- tifying letter and number, in place of the name of the warship, for example:-Submarine L69.

The expression warship and the name of the ship are counted as one word each; or, if the radiotelegram is addressed to a submarine, the word submarine, to- gether with its identifying letter or number (example: Submarine L69), is counted as one word.

No departure from this form of address is per- missible.
