any coast station, and radiotelephone calls between shore and ships are made in the same manner as are international telephone calls. The service is available throughout the 24 hours. The operating section of the Cable and Wireless Coast Station VPS is situated at Mount Butler.

100. Cable and Wireless Ltd. has 7 public counters for the accept- ance of telegrams and radiotelephone calls, 3 on Hong Kong Island and 4 on Kowloon Peninsula. The Company also provides a phono- gram service for acceptance and delivery of telegrams by telephone.

STAFF WELFARE

102. Regular X-Ray examinations, inoculations etc. of the staff were carried out during the year by the Medical and Health Department.

103. The Welfare Officer made regular visits to staff members in hospital and their families.

104. The Post Office Recreation Club continued as the venue for promoting welfare, sporting and social activities of its members during the year.
