Hogarth Shield

114. Eleven inter-departmental teams entered for this shield which was won by the Assistant Postmen 'A' team with Registration and Parcels team being the runners-up.

CONCLUSION

115. This is the final report on the Post Office Department for which I will be responsible as I will proceed on retirement leave before the end of the current financial year after almost ten years as Postmaster General. During this time the traffic the Department has been called upon to handle has continued to increase at a very rapid rate and revenue collections have risen from a total of $36 million to over $101 million. This only too clearly indicates the continuous growth of trade and prosperity in the Colony and I am confident that Hong Kong will con- tinue to prosper. I am proud to have taken part in this development.

116. Despite the recent temporary disturbances caused by some irresponsible members I am also proud of the staff of the Post Office Department with whom it has been my privilege to work over the years and I extend to them my best wishes for the future.

117. Many plans have been made for the further development of postal services in Hong Kong. I only hope my successor will be given every assistance to enable him to proceed with these and other plans so as to be in a position to meet the demands which will be made upon him in the future.

A. G. CROOK,

Postmaster General.

17th July, 1967.
