Completion of this building has been delayed and it is estimated that the office will not be ready for opening before June 1967. (c) Colony Transit Mail Office and Sorting Office, Hung Hom
Planning of this project is still in its early stages and is dependent on decisions regarding re-siting of the Railway Terminal.
(d) Air Mail Centre, Kai Tak Airport
An extension to the Air Mail Centre has been approved and plans are now being drawn up.
68. The need for expansion of Post Office facilities continues. The long term planning for additional offices in both urban and rural areas, and re-housing of existing offices in more modern premises is designed to meet these demands.
69. During the past seven years the number of offices held on rental has greatly increased with the result that outgoings for rental payments have increased from $40,000 to over $600,000 and during the ensuing year are expected to exceed $900,000.
70. An aircraft hangar was re-erected on the central reclamation to provide temporary accommodation for expansion of services at the General Post Office and brought into use in June when the unique mechanized equipment for loading and discharging mail lighters became operational.

Radio Surveys and Inspections
71. Radio surveyors surveyed 303 and inspected 117 Ship Radio Stations in order to ensure compliance with the International Conven- tion for the Safety of Life at Sea and provided the necessary service. which permitted the calibration of Direction Finding Equipment on 112 vessels.
Certificate of Competency in Radiotelegraphy
72. First Class Certificate examinations were conducted, Part One twice and Part Two once during the year.
73. Part One of the Second Class examination was held twice and Part Two once.
