9. The Telecommunications Division of the department surveyed 281 and inspected 105 ship radio stations. Licensing, inspection, investi- gation of interference, advice to government departments and a variety of other duties were also carried out.
10. Despite a number of prosecutions made, as will be seen from the report, the number of Broadcast Receiving Licences in force at the end of the year showed a decrease of 1,565 over the previous year. How- ever, revenue from telecommunication licences of the various types issued by the department increased by $88,088.00.
STAFF
11. The total authorized establishment of the Post Office at the close of the year was 1,523, an increase of 108 over the preceding year. 638 posts were pensionable.
12. The turnover in staff continued to be high through resignations, transfers etc., the total for the year being 163.
Universal Postal Union Congress 1964
13. Mr. A. G. CROOK, Postmaster General, left the Colony for London and Vienna on 10.5.64 to attend the Universal Postal Union Congress and returned on 16.7.64.
Senior Staff Appointments
14. Mr. A. NELSON was appointed as Assistant Controller (Tele- communications) Class I on temporary transfer from the British Post Office and arrived in the colony on 2.12.64.

15. Mr. T. H. MESSENGER, Controller of Posts, returned from vacation leave on 11.4.64.
16. Mr. R. V. TALBOT-JONES, Chief Controller, Telecommunications Services, returned from vacation leave on 16.5.64.
17. Mr. D. B. L. GREW, Senior Inspector (Telecommunications), was absent from the Colony on vacation leave from 25.6.64 to 11.3.65.
18. Mr. R. HOGARTH, Controller of Posts, returned from vacation leave on 11.10.64.
