60. The planning and construction of new offices for several more densely populated areas continues in implementation of the Depart- ment's expansion programme, and it is expected that the present rate of provision of new offices will be maintained.

Radio Surveys and Inspection
61. Radio surveyors surveyed 281 and inspected 105 Ship Radio Stations for compliance with the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea and the 1952 Radio Rules, and provided the necessary service which permitted local radio maintenance companies to calibrate Direction Finding Equipment on 123 vessels.
Certification of Competency in Radiotelegraphy
62. First Class Certificate examinations were conducted, Part One once and Part Two twice during the year.
63. Part One of the Second Class examination was held once and Part Two twice.
64. Results of the examinations which show a satisfactory increase in the number of successful candidates are as follows:

65. Ten candidates were examined during the year on behalf of the Director of Marine.

66. Seven candidates were successful in tests conducted by the Division.

67. The total number of licences issued in accordance with the Telecommunications Regulations was 142,991 at the 31st March, 1965.
