86. The administration of some 6,756 instruments in use by Govern- ment continues to be handled by this Division. Technical advice on telephone communication was given to Departments and specifications drawn up for equipment required. Maintenance of intercommunication systems is let to private contract.

Broadcasting

87. Both the Commercial and Government Broadcasting services continued to supply English and Chinese day-long programmes on Medium wave and in the case of Government on V.H.F. F.M. Approval was given for a further Medium wave Chinese service to the Hong Kong Commercial Broadcasting Company.

International Statistics

88. Annual statistics covering the various telecommunications services and facilities in Hong Kong were provided to Berne for in- clusion in international publications.

Telecommunications Meetings

89. Mr. R. V. TALBOT-JONES, Chief Controller, attended the Inter- national Telecommunications Union Meeting in Geneva in the capacity of representative for colonial territories. Mr. C. ROWLINSON attended a seminar on frequencies at Geneva whilst on leave.

Interference

90. A number of cases of interference to governmental and private telecommunications services performing both internal and external functions were investigated and, where possible, eliminated.
