Changes in the types of licences have been made in the new Ordinance to meet present day requirements. The figures for licences in force on the 31st March, 1963 have had to be given for licences issued under the old Ordinance and the new Ordinance separately. The period 1st April, 1962 to 31st December, 1962 covers licences issued under the old Ordinance and 1st January, 1963 to 31st March, 1963 those issued under the new Ordinance. In cases where licences were valid under the old Ordinance beyond the 1st January, 1963 they are valid until their expiry date when a licence under the new Ordinance will be issued. The numbers of licences issued appear in Table V.
