International Statistics
73. Normal annual figures of various telecommunications facilities were sent to the International Telecommunications Union in Switzerland,
Telecommunications Meetings
74. The Postmaster General attended a meeting of experts from Malaya, Singapore and the Borneo Territories which was convened in Kuala Lumpur in July to discuss telecommunications matters of common interest and concern.
Interference
75. A number of cases of interference to telecommunications services, Government and privately owned, performing both internal and external functions were investigated and, where possible, eliminated.
76. To a large extent these cases resulted from use of high frequency equipment by the plastics industry for welding purposes. A very con- siderable increase in the use of such equipment was observed during the year.
Maintenance
77. Routine maintenance and acceptance of tests of new equipment was carried out on behalf of the Medical and Health Department and the Government Chemist in respect of a wide variety of Electro-medical apparatus.
78. Routine maintenance of the V.H.F. radiotelephony equipment of the Waterworks communications network was carried out throughout the year. A number of new stations were installed and site tests carried out for future proposed sites. Technical advice and estimates for a telemetering and communications system for the Shek Pik Water Scheme were provided.

Various smaller items of technical assistance were rendered on behalf of certain other departments.
Advice to Government Departments
80. This Division continued to proffer technical advice to a number of Government departments on all matters relating to telecommunica- tions.
