11. The total revenue collections of the department created yet another record, the total of $85,093,969.03 exceeding the 1961-62 figure by no less than $19,040,302.23. The excess over expenditure was also a record at $55,321,382.40. The major portion of the increased revenue was realized from the additional posting of small packets to China but this traffic and the revenue derived from it must continue to be regarded as abnormal and revenue is liable to considerably decrease should the posting of small packets show a decline. Some portion of the packet traffic to China was of course present in normal times.

12. The Wireless Licence Section revenue for the year amounted to $2,967,005 exceeding the estimate by $407,005,

13. Expenditure on all services totalled $29,772,586.63 showing a saving of $478,913.37 on the estimated figure.

Remittance Services

14. Money Orders issued and paid totalled 27,300 with a value of $3,709,509.93. Figures for 1961-62 were 23,696 orders with a value of $3,703,117.49.

15. Postal Order transactions rose sharply to a new record total of 864,097 valued at $29,706,898.75 compared with 414,419 worth $18,603,375.83 in 1960-61. 784,397 orders valued at $27,125,640.15 were paid.

16. The combined total of $33,416,408.68 in respect of money and postal order transactions exceeded the total recorded in 1960-61 by over $11,109,000.

17. Revenue in the way of commission derived from these services registered a corresponding increase, the total of $120,337.19 exceeding the previous year's total by over $25,500.

Stamp Vendors

18. A total of 38 additional stamp vendor permits were issued and 3 licences revoked during the year. This brought the total of persons licensed by the Postmaster General to conduct postal business in the Colony in the way of sale of stamps and air letters to 320.

19. Additional stamp vending machines were installed to bring the total in use to 14. Further machines are on order and it is planned to
