120. The open air badminton Court continued to be popular and was used throughout the year whenever weather permitted.
Education
121. Clerical 'In Service' Training Courses covering a fairly com- prehensive field were continued during the year; as well as French Language Courses for the more senior grades. English Classes for the uniformed grades were also conducted during the year. All classes were well attended and go far in maintaining the high standard of efficiency for which the Department is now well known.
Club House
122. Improvements were limited by the availability of funds but nevertheless extensions at the North and South wings of the Club House were carried out in the form of angle iron bar supports with corrugated asbestos roofing, complete with electrical wiring and lighting plus colourful canvas wrap-arounds for protection during inclement weather. A much needed additional water supply tank was installed and dressing room facilities rearranged to provide more space for the installation of lockers. In this respect the Committee are to be congratulated on their hard work and the results they have achieved during the year.
CONCLUSION
123. This report has shown the further increases in the volume of business in all sections with which the department has had to deal and the very substantial increase in revenue. These increases have had to be handled in congested surroundings especially on heavy mail days and pressure periods such as Christmas and the Chinese New Year but efficiency of deliveries has been maintained and indeed extended in what must be one of the most densely populated and difficult delivery areas in the world, and advantage has been taken of the best services available for both air and sea despatches.
124. Every opportunity has been taken to extend and improve services and that so much has been accomplished throws great credit on officers of all grades and I would like in concluding this report to extend to them my grateful thanks for their outstanding co-operation throughout the year.
