STAFF WELFARE
100. Leave rosters continued to be maintained for all grades. This enabled the staff to know well in advance at what period of the year they could take their leave.
101. The Post Office Recreation Club was again a big asset in the arrangement of welfare activities, and a number of sporting and social functions were organized there during the year.
Film Shows
102. Film shows were given at regular intervals and attracted fair audiences.
Social Activities
103. Dances were again organized, the last one to be held during the year showing a marked increase in the number of persons attending, no doubt brought about by the influx of new clerks to the Department. Refreshments were available and were produced by the club organi- zation.
Christmas Party
104. The Christmas Party given to the children of personnel of the Department was again a tremendous success and was attended by no less than 300 children. The children with their parents and relatives represented a great gathering at the Club. Each child was given a present and a tuck box, and then entertained to stories, conjuring, etc. by guest artists.
Sport
105. The sporting activities of the Department continue to expand. The Post Office Recreation Club team which has steadily progressed in the 'C' Division of the Colony Tennis Leagues reached the top of its division, a position shared with a team from the Chinese Recreation Club. The play-off was won by the Chinese Recreation Club, but the departmental team is to be congratulated on its success and perserver-
ance.
106. The table tennis tournament for the 'Saville' Cup was keenly contested by a large number of competitors, and the department was privileged to witness, after the finals, an outstanding exhibition by the table tennis champions of the Colony. I am indeed grateful to them for so readily coming forward to give this exhibition.
