TRAFFIC Separation Schemes
PART I

1. Every vessel proceeding along, as opposed to crossing, any traffic lane of any traffic separation scheme contained in Part II of this Schedule, hereinafter in this Part referred to as a traffic separation scheme, shall have right of way over any vessel proceeding across such a traffic lane.
2. Every vessel using a traffic separation scheme shall---
(a) proceed in the appropriate traffic lane in the general direction of traffic flow for that lane;
(b) so far as practicable keep clear of a traffic separation line or separation zone;
(c) normally join or leave a traffic lane at the termination of the lane, but when joining or leaving from the side shall do so at as small an angle to the general direction of traffic flow as practicable.
3. Every vessel shall so far as practicable avoid crossing traffic lanes, but if obliged to do so shall cross as nearly as practicable at right angles to the general direction of traffic flow.
4. Designated inshore traffic zones shall not normally be used by through traffic which can safely use the appropriate traffic lane within the adjacent traffic separation scheme.
5. Every vessel, other than a crossing vessel, shall not normally enter a separation zone or cross a separation line except in cases of emergency to avoid immediate danger.
6. Every vessel navigating in areas near the termination of a traffic separation scheme shall do so with particular caution.
7. Every vessel shall so far as practicable avoid anchoring in a traffic separation scheme or in areas near its terminations.
