He was found guilty, and transported for life, Leang Ahing, Cook's assistant, was accused of stabbing and cutting with intent to kill and murder. James Williams, Police Sorjeant, was at the West market place on the 14th July about 7 o'clock in the morning. About 30 or 40 Chinese were running about with swords shields and spears, a part of them rushed up a street and seized the prisoner and rushed back to the market place. Witness took the prisoner into custody, and the mean who held him, found a wounded man there.

Lei Afang, bricklayer was accused of Robbery with violenca committed uyon Hi Apo on the 29th
June.
Hii Apo is a builder, on the 29th June was in a hose in the Taiping-shan, when he came down stairs some 7 or 8 men demanded some money they said he owed them. He said he owed none. Pri soner laid--hold of him and said he would have his. clothes. In pulling them, he saw his watch, and seized it. They all beat him, but were not prmed. Witness saw the prisoner soon after at the door of a pawnbroker, and gave him imo the custody of an English Policeman,
Richard Chisholm arrested the prisoner who was pointed out by first witness as having robbed him of his watch.-Verdict not guilty.
Wong Poong-heen accused of cutting with intent to do some grievous injury, pleaded not guilty.
Juan Fereira deposed that on the 7th August he saw the prisoner fighting with another inan in Tai- ping-shan and tried to separate them, he chased the man, others came and wanted to catch him, but h threw stones and kept them off, he had a pair →swords. Witness apprehended him, and received veral cuts, from which he has lost the use o two little fingers-the prisoner tried also to str him on the head they fell together, and the pri ner struck him with a sword in the breast, a Po liceman came and apprehended him.
