The Courrier Français is as indignant if not quite so melancholy as the national. It says.
Tho article of one Commerce is a mixture of in- dignation and satire. Alluding to a passage in the Globe on the affair of Tahiti, it says:
Never was there a greater outrage upon the dignity of our country; and the good sense of the public is not less insulted than the national honour. What, infact, are we called upon to do? To ap prove humbly of the blame inflict upon an officer who deprived of power the agent of a plot against the lives of our soldiers, whilst this agent is to re ceive an indemnity! Pritchard is guilty; he was justly arrested and expelled, and yet France is to pay the expenses of the proceeding. Let there be no medium; if Pritchard be without reproach, we demand his retura in Tahiti, the disavowal dismis sal of Messrs Brust and d'Aubiguy, and the fullest reparation to England, but of Pritchard has been the insugator of the hostilities in Tahiti agaidst us, let there be no censure, no indemnity, but full and entire reparation to France. Between these two points there is room only for silly cowardice."
Thus the English Ministry has shown modera. tion and wisdom in resorting, upon the simple af firmation of Mr. Pritchard, to insults and menaces towards France, which might have brought on a war between the two countries! Thus the French Government has shown true dignity in consenting to make reparation, when the unanimous felling of the nation proclaimed that Frence had been shame- fully provoked at Tahiti, these are the examples to be set by the two first nations in the world, we must avow that nations who are not in this category may think themselves Imppy in not having to set such examples" p

The Siecle has an article in the same strain as that of the Commerce. The Quotidienne ridicules the expression in the Queen's speech about the spirit of justice and moderation of the two cabinets. England, says this journal, has, it it expected, De patch everything her own way. If Sir R. Peel was loudly Ell cheered, says the Quotidienne, by the house of
