The official returns for the Unite Kingdom, which reach to the 5th of August, give the quantity of tea that had paid duty as 20,000,500 Ibs. against 22,722,800 at that period of 1843. SUGAR the early part of August, 2,000 bags no disposition to buy, and excepting the sale subse quently of 1,500 bages of low quality at the previous value of 14s, there is nothing of interest or importance in this kind to report. Of Java only 500. bkts have been brought forward in public sale which went rather cheaper, in the first instange from 175 to 188 for mid. to good brown, 193 ad to 20 for low grey, and from 215 6il to 29s for low white, but latterly from 178 6d for good brown to 199 61 for fine yellow.

For the information of shippera of Sugar from Java. and Manila we subjoin the comp rative value in this market of these description, and of similar qualities of Mauritius and Bengal, on the supposition that the terms of sale to discount and mode payment were maile the same:

The Charges in the ministry are very trifling but the Mantchoos are in possession of emolu ments and honors to a for greater extent than at any preceding period. Under Mun-chang-ah is now nearly the whole contrat of affairs, and the most powerful men, do huge to his
