S. Steam Frigate "Mis- sissipi, of the same tonnage and power of engines with the Missouri, has been built-and completed at the U. S Navy Yard, Philadelphia, during the same period.

Their frames are composed of solid well seasoned timbor, copper fastened secured with extra diagonal braces, and transverse fastenings of wood and iron, from stem to stern, caulked inside and out, to light water line, then planked, caulked, and coppered in the usual man. ner; each fitted up with double low presure marine engines, of adequate power. They combine all the latest improvements in their construction, machinery. and armaments, each mounting Paixan guns, and are considered equal, if not superior, in strength, efficiency, and speed, to any steamers of their respective classes afloat. In addition to the above, there have also been built and fitted out for the Mexican Navy, two fast sailing armed schooners, of about 200 tons each, also mounted with Faixan guns.
