On the 29th at 11.55 a.-“The barometer has fallen in Hakodate, and risen over S. Japan. A depression which was moving Northwards off the E. coast of Japan yesterday, is situated to the S. of Hokkaido this morning. Pressure is highest and normal over the S. Philippines. It is inclined to increase on the China coast, but it is still from 0.1 to 0.2 inch below the norinal. Moderate variable winds are expected to prevail in the Formosa Channel, and moderate S.W. winds over the N. part of the China Sea.' Forecast:-

:-"S.W. or vari- able winds, light to moderate; fair."

On the 30th at 11.50 a. “The barometer is inclined to fall over the Philippines. It has risen elsewhere, particularly over N. China and Japan. The depression lying over Hok- kaido yesterday has moved away Northwards. Pressure appears to be high over China to the North of the Upper Yangtze. It is relatively low over the N. part of the China Sea. Moderate N.E. winds are expected to prevail in the Formosa Channel, and moderate variable winds over the N. part of the China Sea." Forecast :-" Variable to N.E. winds, light or moderate; showery.'

On the 31st at 11.50 a.- "The barometer has risen moderately in Japan, and a slight rise has taken place over China, except on the S. coast. A low pressure trough, which may give rise to a circular depression, lies over the N. part of the China Sea and the Pacific to the E. of N. Luzon. Pressure is relatively high over China to the North of the Upper Yangtze. Fresh N.E. winds may be expected in the Formosa Channel, and along the Northern shores of the China Sea." Forecast:-"N.E. winds, fresh; squally, showery."
