An Ordinance to amend the law relating to the Urban Council.

Be it enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Urban Council Short title. Amendment Ordinance, 1939.

The Urban Council Ordinance, 1935, as amended by Amendments section 2 of the Director of Medical and Sanitary Services 3 (1) and 10 (Change of Name) Ordinance, 1936, is further amended by of Ordinance the substitution of the words Deputy Director of Health Services for the words "Director of Medical Services sections 3 (1) and 10.

Objects and Reasons.

The object of this Bill is to substitute the Deputy Director of Health Services for the Director of Medical Services as Vice-Chairman of and professional adviser to the Urban Council in all medical matters, including matters of public health and sanitation, and as superintendent of the enforce- ment and observance of all Ordinances relating to Public Health and the by-laws and regulations made thereunder.
