56. The Director may in his discretion require the ap- plicant for the registration of any school, as a condition precedent to the registration thereof, and for the purpose of ensuring compliance with the provisions of the Education Ordinance, 1913, and of these and any other regulations made thereunder, to make a cash deposit not exceeding $250 or to enter into a bond for a like amount with two sureties approved by the Director.

57. It shall be within the power of the Director to waive all or any of the regulations in Parts II, III, IV and V in particular cases.

58. These regulations shall come into operation on the first day of January, 1940.

For the purpose of these Appendices, "urinal" means a separate urinal vessel or a trough not less than 18 inches long.

APPENDIX A.

LATRINES AND URINALS IN SCHOOLS OTHER THAN BOARDING SCHOOLS.

1. Connected to a flush system-

Boys,

One pan and one urinal shall be provided for every 50 pupils. Where urinals are not provided one pan shall be provided for every 35 pupils.

Girls,

One pan shall be provided for every 35 pupils.

2. Not connected to a flush system---

Boys,

Girls,

One pan and two urinals shall be provided for every 35 pupils.

One pan shall be provided for every 25 pupils.

APPENDIX B.

1. Connected to a flush system--

Boys,

Girls,

One pan and one urinal shall be provided for every 20 boarders.

One pan shall be provided for every 20 boarders.

2. Not connected to a flush system---

Boys,

One pan shall be provided for every five boarders and one urina! for every 10 boarders.

Girls,

One pan shall be provided for every five boarders.
