AMENDMENT OR REPEAL.
60. The Telephone Ordinance, 1925. (No. 9 of 1925), --contd.
(ii) sub-section (d) is renumbered as (4) and the words "any person' are substituted for "all applicants" in the last two lines;
(iv) sub-section (e) is renumbered as (5).
(5) Section 18-the words "both electrically and mechanically' are substituted for "as regards both electrical and mechanical conditions" in the second and third lines.
(6) Section 19—the word “standards” is sub- stituted for "requirements" in the second line.
(7) Section 22—
(1) the words Accountant-General" are substituted for "Treasurer" in the third line of paragraph (b), the first line of paragraph (d), and the last line;
(ii) in the proviso-the word "fails" is substituted for "shall fail" in the first line, and "has" for "shall have" in the fourth line.
(8). Section 23-the words "opens or breaks’ are substituted for "shall open or break” in the first line.
(9) Section 27, paragraph (c) -- the word "necessitates” is substituted for "shall necessitate" in the first and second lines.
(10); Section 29––
(i) the words ", within two years from the commencement of this Ordinance or such later limit of time as may be specified and approved of by the Governor in Council and notified in writing to the Company, in the second to the fifth lines, and "of" and over, in the penultimate line, are repealed;
(ii) the word "where" is substituted for "such as may be in the fifth line.
(11) Section 30-
(i) the following is substituted for the first sentence-
"The company shall maintain and operate the public telephone service in the Colony.”;
(ii) the words "with modern appliances, including all reasonable modern inventions" are inserted in the eleventh line im- mediately after "communication”.
(12) Section 31-sub-sections (a), (b) and (e)
are renumbered as (1), (2) and (3).
(13) Section 32-...
(i) the words "on and from the 1st day of July, 1925, take over, maintain and operate the existing telephone exchanges of the China and Japan Telephone and
