PART XVII-STORAGE OF HIGH FLASH LIQUID IN SHOPS.

301. This Part applies only to the storage of high flash liquid in shops.

302.--(1) The high flash liquid shall be stored either---- (a) in a store above ground level, built and ventilated to the satisfaction of the Licensing Authority, or

(b) in a pit below ground level in a roofless yard, court, or open space.

(2) Every pit shall-

(a) be built either of concrete or of brick faced with cement not less than one inch in thickness,

(b) be provided with close fitting hinged iron perforated with vent holes of small diameter, and

covers

(c) be of such capacity as the Licensing Authority shall approve.

303. Before any licence is granted for storage, the plans of the store or pit shall be submitted to and approved by the Building Authority.

304. No alteration of any kind shall be made in any store or pit in respect whereof a licence has been granted without-

and

(a) the permission in writing of the Licensing Authority,

(b) the subenission to and approval by the Building Authority of plans showing the alteration.

305.-() No fire, forge, furnace or similar source of heat shall be nearer than twenty feet.

(b) no explosive shall be nearer than twenty feet, and

(c) no highly inflammable material shall be nearer than ten feet to any store or pit unless the store or pit is protected by a wall or partition made of fire resisting material and sufficient in height and strength of construction to prevent the communication of fire.

306. No substance other than high flash liquid shall be deposited or kept in any store or pit.

307. No high flash liquid shall be received in or supplied from any store or pit except between sunrise and sunset, and no receptacle containing any high flash liquid shall be opened in any part of any shop except at or immediately adjoining the store or pit and only for so long as is necessary for drawing off the contents thereof; and during such drawing off every reasonable precaution shall be taken for preventing the escape of any high flash liquid or vapour therefrom.

308. No fire or artificial light capable of igniting in- flammable vapour and no article likely to cause fire shall at any time be taken into any store or pit.

309. No high flash liquid in transit to or from a store or pit which forms part of shop premises shall be allowed to remain in any other part of the shop premises.
