NOTICE TO MARINERS.

THE following regulation, made by the South Australian Harbors Board, with the consent and approval of His Excellency the Governor in Council, is published for general information.

At a meeting of the South Australian Harbors Board held on the 12th day of January, 1917, pursuant to the powers conferred by the Harbors Act, 1913, and Marine Board and Navigation Act, 1881, the following regulation was duly made:----

EXPLOSIVES.

This regulation shall take effect on the 1st day of March, 1917.

The South Australian Harbors Board, pursuant to the powers conferred by the Marine Board and Navigation Act, 1881, and the Harbors Act, 1913, hereby defines and classifies the undermentioned explosive, which is also added to the authorised "List of Explosives" in force for the time being.

Explosives. Class III.-Nitro-Compound.

Division 1.

Farmers' Dynamite.--Consisting of thoroughly purified nitro-glycerine gelatinised into nitro-cotton, thoroughly washed and purified, and mixed or incorporated with the following ingredients:-Nitrate of sodium, wood meal (for the bleaching or purifying of which no chemical agents have been used, or, if used, have been absolutely removed), and carbonate of magnesium; provided that in every hundred (100) parts by weight of the finished explosive, the amount of nitro-glycerine shall not exceed 395 parts by weight, nor the carbonate of magnesium two (2) parts by weight, and the amount of nitro-cotton shall not be less than 075 parts by weight, and the wood meal not less than 165 parts by weight (dry), the whole explosive to be of such character and consistency as not to he liable to liquefaction or exudation.

Oyster Bay Spit Beacon.

MASTERS of vessels and others are hereby informed that the Beacon on the North End of the South Spit, which had disappeared, has been replaced temporarily with a Black Baoy.

This affects Admiralty Charts Nos. 2152 and 2389.
